World renowned Irish musician Christy Moore has been confirmed to perform at Children in Crossfire’s ‘Culture of Compassion’ event to mark the visit of His Holiness, 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet on Thursday, April 18.
2,500 local people will be coming together at the Venue in Ebrington to see the Children in Crossfire’s ‘Culture of Compassion’ event to explore how as a global community we can become more compassionate and care for others and our planet.
Christy Moore has a long standing connection with Richard Moore, Director of Children in Crossfire and has recorded a song about him. The late Christie Hennessy wrote the song called ‘When Will We Learn’ based on the unique relationship between Richard and the Dalai Lama. This song was then recorded by Christie Hennessy, Christy Moore and his brother Luka Bloom. Christy has also written and recorded many songs about social injustice and has a close affiliation to a number of charitable organisations.

His Holiness, the Dalai Lama is a spiritual leader who knows and understands the power of compassion, healing and forgiveness. I am also delighted to be associated with such a wonderful organisation that is doing fantastic work helping vulnerable children in other parts of the world.’
As well as a performance from Christy Moore and an address from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, patrons will also experience an eclectic mix of music, poetry, story, dialogue and dance. Colm Mac Con Iomaire (violinist from iconic Irish band- The Frames), Rainbow School of Dance, Encore Contemporary Choir and The Longtower Folk Group amongst others, will be performing.
